Waiting time distributions in quantum spin Hall based heterostructures
نویسندگان
چکیده
We study the scattering processes and associated waiting time distributions (WTDs) in heterostructures based on one-dimensional helical edge states of a two-dimensional topological insulator. In combination with proximitized $s$-wave superconductor an applied magnetic field transition occurs. Along this WTD reveals specific features related to presence Andreev bound at finite energy or Majorana zero under ideal conditions. The effects several imperfections such as disorder temperature are discussed.

5 . Waiting - Time Distributions
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known. The universe is full of magical things, patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper. Why are waiting times interesting? While waiting times in our everyday life are usually associated with boredom, the statistics of waiting times contains scientifically interesting information about (1) the mean rates of event occurrence and (2) the ran...
متن کاملQuantum Hall Spin Diode.
Double layer two-dimensional electron systems at high perpendicular magnetic field are used to realize magnetic tunnel junctions in which the electrons at the Fermi level in the two layers have either parallel or antiparallel spin magnetizations. In the antiparallel case the tunnel junction, at low temperatures, behaves as a nearly ideal spin diode. At elevated temperatures the diode character ...

We review our recent theoretical works on the the quantum spin Hall effect. First we compare edge states in various 2D systems, and see whether they are robust or fragile against perturbations. Through the comparisons we see the robust nature of edge states in 2D quantum spin Hall phases. We see how it is protected by the Z2 topological number, and reveal the nature of the Z2 topological number...
متن کاملTime-reversal-breaking induced quantum spin Hall effect
We show that quantum spin Hall (QSH) effect does not occur in a square lattice model due to cancellation of the intrinsic spin-orbit coupling coming from different hopping paths. However, we show that QSH effect can be induced by the presence of staggered magnetic fluxes alternating directions square by square. When the resulting Peierls phase takes a special value , the system has a composite ...
متن کاملThe Quantum Spin Hall Effect
Most quantum states of condensed matter are classified by the symmetries they break. For example, crystalline solids break translational symmetry, and ferromagnets break rotational symmetry. By contrast, topological states of matter evade traditional symmetrybreaking classification schemes, and they signal the existence of a fundamentally different organizational principle of quantum matter. Th...
